There are various reasons why you might need to cancel your expat health insurance. When submitting a cancellation request, it may not always be clear which option to select to ensure your request is processed correctly.

Below, we’ll go over some of the most common cancellation reasons and guide you on how to proceed when you need to cancel your policy.

The most common valid reasons for canceling your policy:

1) You have another Spanish health insurance

If you have enrolled in another health insurance plan in Spain, whether it’s an expat, public, or private plan, you can cancel your current expat insurance by selecting the option "I have another health insurance."

2) You Have Left Spain

If you are leaving Spain or have already relocated, you can cancel your policy by choosing the option "I left Spain."

Other cancellation reasons & how to proceed:

1) Temporarily Pausing Your Coverage

We do not offer an option to pause expat health insurance. If you are leaving Spain for a temporary period, you can cancel your policy and purchase a new one upon your return or leave it open for the time you are away. In this case, please select "I left Spain" as your cancellation reason.

2) Changing Your Start Date

If you need to modify your policy’s start date, you should first sign up for a new policy with the correct start date. Then, go to your old policy in your account and request a cancellation under "I have another health insurance." If your previous policy has not yet started, you will receive a full refund automatically.

3) Being Added to a Family Member’s Insurance

If you have been included as a dependent on a family member’s health insurance, you can cancel your expat policy by selecting "I have another health insurance."

4) No Longer Wanting or Needing Expat Insurance

If you decide that our expat insurance is not the right fit for you, that’s completely fine. However, keep in mind that Spain law requires you to have valid health insurance at all times. Before canceling your current policy, you must secure a new health insurance plan. Once you have your new coverage, you can cancel by choosing "I have another health insurance."

5) Not Entering Spain

If you never arrived in Spain and need to cancel your policy, please contact us with proof of your location (such as a screenshot of your geolocation). You can reach out to us here.

Please note: You must inform us before your policy begins; otherwise, a minimum charge of one month will apply.

6) Visa Application Rejected

If your visa was denied and you have not entered Spain, please contact us and provide documentation of your visa rejection or proof that you are not in Spain (e.g., a geolocation screenshot). You can contact us here.

Please note: You must inform us before your policy begins; otherwise, a minimum charge of one month will apply.

If there is another reason for your cancellation or you are not sure how to proceed, please reach out to us and we can assist you further.
