Has your visa appointment been delayed, or have your travel plans changed? If so, you might also need to adjust the start date of your expat health insurance. Let’s walk you through the process!
First, we strongly recommend updating your start date before your policy begins. This is the simplest option, so whenever possible, try to make the change in advance.
Changing a start date when the policy hasn't started yet
If your policy hasn’t started yet, just follow these steps:
Log in to your Feather account
Select the option to cancel your policy the reason 'I have another health insurance'
Your original policy will be automatically refunded! Keep in mind that it may take a few days for the refund to be processed and appear in your account.
Next, simply:
Purchase a new policy with your preferred start date
You can sign up again here
And that’s all!
Changing a start date when your policy has already started
If your coverage has already begun, we can still adjust the start date and issue a refund for the original policy, but first, we need proof of a new policy.
Here’s what to do:
First purchase a new policy with your new start date
You can sign up again here
Then, contact us and provide us with your new policy number and ask us to cancel the original policy
We will then cancel the original policy and issue a refund, as long as no claims were made
What If My Policy Has Already Started and I Don’t Want to Purchase a New One?
If your policy has already begun and the withdrawal period has passed, a minimum one-month term applies. This means we won’t be able to issue a refund for the original policy.
For this reason, we always recommend signing up for a new policy with the correct start date.
