General cancellation policy:
You can cancel your expat health insurance policy on a monthly basis.
Aside from the first month of your policy, premiums are normally charged on the first date of each month. When you cancel, your insurance coverage remains active until the end of the month you cancel in. As long as you cancel before the end of the current month, you will not be billed again for the following month onwards.
What if I purchase a policy and then change my mind?
If you purchase a policy with a start date within 14 days of purchase, then you have a 14 day 'right of withdrawal' period to cancel your policy from the date of purchase and receive a full refund (as long as no claims were made during this period).
Eg. If you purchase a policy on the 1st of May, and the policy begins on the 7th of May, then you can cancel anytime before the 15th of May and receive a full refund.
If you purchase a policy with a start date in the future (over 14 days), then you have anytime before the policy starts to cancel it and receive a full refund.
Eg. If you purchase a policy on the 1st of May, and the policy begins on the 1st of August, then you can cancel anytime before then, in this case it would be the 31st of July, and receive a full refund.
If you do not cancel within these right of withdrawal periods, then a minimum of one month on the policy applies.
Note: If you are within your withdrawal period and want to cancel because you have changed your mind, be sure to check the option “I changed my mind and need a full refund” when you cancel, otherwise you will not automatically receive your refund. This is because some people want to keep the coverage for 1 month, which is the minimum month of coverage required.
