Insured contents (also called movable property) refer to the personal belongings inside your home that are not permanently fixed to the building. These are the items you would normally take with you if you moved house.

Which personal belongings are covered?

Insured contents typically include personal items that belong to you or to the people living with you in the insured home, such as:

  • Furniture and household items
Sofas, tables, chairs, beds, wardrobes, bookcases and other non-fixed furniture.

  • Household appliances and electronics
Refrigerators, washing machines, TVs, computers, small appliances and other electrical or electronic equipment used for private purposes.

  • Clothing and personal effects
Clothes, shoes, accessories, personal items and everyday belongings.

  • Household goods
Kitchenware, crockery, linens, decorations and similar items intended for domestic use.

  • Food and stored household supplies
Food kept inside the home for personal consumption.

  • Jewellery and valuables (within limits)
Items such as gold, silver, platinum objects and watches may be covered up to specific limits. High-value items usually need to be declared separately to be fully insured.

  • Objects of special value (when declared)
Works of art, collections, musical instruments, carpets, or antiques may be covered if they are declared and included in the policy conditions.

Who do the insured contents belong to?

Contents coverage applies to items owned by:

  • The policyholder or insured person

  • Family members living in the household

  • Registered partners living in the home

  • Domestic staff who live permanently in the insured property

What is not included in insured contents?

Insured contents generally do not include:

  • Items used for professional or commercial activities, unless expressly covered

  • Motor vehicles, boats or trailers

  • Items not declared or excluded in the policy conditions
