Your home insurance policy covers the following individuals, provided you include all cohabitants when signing up:
The policyholder, who is the person that signed the insurance contract.
The insured person, if different from the policyholder (for example, in some rental situations).
Your spouse or registered partner living in the insured home.
Family members (such as parents, children, grandparents or descendants in the first degree), who permanently live with you and are financially dependent on you.
Other members of the household, who normally reside in the property, provided there is no economic or commercial relationship between them.
This applies whether you are a owner or a renter, as long as the home is used as your private residence and declared correctly in the policy.
Are domestic staff covered?
Yes. Domestic staff who live in the insured home (for example, a live-in cleaner or carer) are considered covered for certain guarantees, such as civil liability, as long as they form part of the household and the activity is private and non-commercial.
Who is covered under Civil Liability insurance?
Civil Liability cover protects you and the insured household members if you accidentally cause bodily injury or material damage to third parties in the context of your private life and the insured home.Third parties are anyone not living in the household, such as visitors, neighbours or passers-by.
Are guests or visitors insured?
Guests are not considered insured persons under the policy. However, they are protected as third parties, meaning that if they suffer damage or injury caused by an insured person, your civil liability cover may respond.
Most guarantees apply to incidents that occur within the insured property in Spain. Civil Liability and Legal Defence may extend to other EU countries, but only under the conditions and limits stated in your policy.
