You can sign up for home insurance online through our official registration portal here.
What information do I need to have available when signing up?
When signing up for home insurance in Spain, have the following information ready:
An estimate of the built surface area of your house. If uncertain, you can check your property contract or consult online sources, such as the Spanish property registry or Idealista.
The year your house was built. If unknown, consult your contract, the Spanish property registry, Idealista, or your local town hall.
Your mortgage loan number if you have a mortgage. This 20-digit number can be found on mortgage payment receipts, your mortgage contract or by contacting your bank.
Spanish Property Registry (Registro de la Propiedad)
The Spanish property registry contains official, government-verified data about each property, including registered surface area, ownership details, and property characteristics. Because it is maintained by public authorities, it is considered a highly reliable and up-to-date source.
Property portals such as Idealista
Platforms like Idealista often display surface area information based on listing data, cadastral records or owner declarations. While this is not a legal document, it is a useful reference if you don’t have immediate access to official paperwork and need a quick estimate when signing up.
What identification documents can I use to register?
You can register using your passport number, your NIE (Foreigners' Identification Number), or your Spanish DNI (National Identity Document).
