Written by Reyes
Updated today

Some services have waiting periods, but many are available from day one.

You can use your insurance right away for:

  • Emergency care and accidents

  • GP visits and primary care

  • Preventive care

What kind of treatments have waiting periods?

Some treatments require a waiting period before you can use them:

6 months

  1. Specialist tests and advanced diagnostics

  2. Planned (non-urgent) surgeries

  3. Psychotherapy

  4. Family planning

8 months

  1. Hospitalisation (non-urgent)

  2. Childbirth (pregnancy & delivery)

  • Waiting periods don’t apply to emergencies or accidents

  • They may be waived if you had similar coverage with another insurer for at least 12 months
