What is the difference between Dental insurance and the default dental coverage in Expat Health insurance?

Expat health insurance includes basic dental coverage for urgent, pain-relieving treatment only. You’re covered up to €500 for things like fillings or denture repairs — but only for new dental issues that happen after your policy starts. Routine checkups, cleanings, and pre-existing dental problems are not included.

Dental insurance, on the other hand, gives you much broader coverage. You can access over 1,500 dental clinics in Spain, and most routine services (like checkups, cleanings, X-rays, surgeries, etc.) are completely free. For advanced treatments such as orthodontics, whitening, or implants, you pay only a reduced rate — usually up to 50% of the cost. And unlike the expat plan, dental insurance covers pre-existing conditions from day one.
